I’m always surprised when people are surprised at how their lives have turned out.  Those that don’t plan for their future almost always seem to be surprised, like they were expecting something different…

Rules are meant to be followed.  Your own rules, that is. Not everyone else’s.  Decide for yourself what rules you want to create for yourself and then just follow those.  The problem with life is that you don’t write the script, it just unfolds as you go through life. Every single book on success, within the first couple of chapters talks about setting goals, working out what is important to you and getting a plan in place.

If you still wish to have all of your teeth when you are 80 years old you must follow the rules – brush twice daily and floss.  If you don’t follow the rules then it’s highly possible you may not have any teeth in your later years.

If you want your car to run smoothly and efficiently make sure it has petrol and a regular service.  Follow the rules and life will be easier.

If you would like financial freedom you must also follow the rules.  Don’t spend more than you earn, pay your taxes, save, invest and help others do the same.

Why does financial security matter to you? How important is it to you? Is having money going to impact your choices?  If you have money does it give you better experiences, more options, better access to things? Have you got some cool people in your life that you would like to spend more time with, go on holidays together?  Money buys back time.

Would you like to spend more time with your kids, your family, your dog? Would you like to provide financial assistance to someone? Are there people in this world that can’t take care of themselves that may need some help? There are lot’s of social millionaires out there now that are helping others – abused families, homeless kids, animals… How good would it feel to just write a cheque or give a bunch of ipads to a school?

Create your rules for your life and then simply follow them.
