I will be forever grateful to my Dad for introducing me to the world of property when I was just 18yrs old. I don’t think he quite realised at the time what an extremely powerful opportunity he was presenting which has allowed me to go on and create a much better financial future for myself than he could have imagined at the time.

I guess you could say my Dad paid it forward to me and now I love helping my clients be able to pay it forward to those they care about.

Imagine, Just For A Minute…

You are visiting your best friends on the weekend… You walk in to the home you know so well and John and Mary are in their kitchen about to crack open a bottle of the good stuff. The really expensive champagne that you always think about buying but never do.

You’re wondering if they’ve won the lottery when Mary squeals with delight as the cork pops. “It’s a special occasion and we wanted to celebrate it with our best friend! We are retiring at the end of the month!”

You look at them confused wondering how this could be possible. As a glass of bubbles is handed across the breakfast bar you find yourself jokingly saying “yeah, right.” They are around the same age as you, come from a similar background and have led not a dissimilar lifestyle to you. Besides, you don’t know anything about this.

You look firstly at John and then across at Mary who is taking a big sip, a smile on her face you haven’t seen since the birth of your godchild. The joy on their faces makes you feel confused and a little stupid as you can’t quite find the words. From a distance you hear yourself say “I don’t understand.”

Mary says “About 15 years ago we met Leonie and we’ve been working closing with her and the team building a property portfolio for ourselves. At the beginning it was a little scary but together we’ve been working on our goals, taking the steps needed, learning how to think like the wealthy so we could achieve bigger things.

With their help overcome any obstacles that may have come our way. There were a few bumps along the journey but they showed us how to stick with it so we could create financial security for ourselves and be able to provide a better future for our kids. One we didn’t have ourselves.”

Deep down, you feel let down but are trying so hard not to show it. You feel like you’ve missed out, disappointed with your friends for not sharing this with you and a slow realisation is coming up for you that you are now going to have two very different lives. Gobsmacked you ask “why didn’t you tell me about any of this?”

Do You Have People In Your World Who Want To Get Ahead In Life?

Now put yourself in John and Mary’s shoes… why do you think they didn’t they tell you? Would you have told them not to act crazy and to hold on to their money? Perhaps you would have been too scared. Maybe your Mum and Dad lost money in property so they didn’t think you would be open to it. There are many reasons they may not have said anything… perhaps they wanted to find out first if it worked and had planned to tell you down the track but they never felt like they could.

“Give others the inspiration to have the aspiration to give themselves a destination that is worthy of them.” Leonie Fitzgerald

When John and Mary saw the disappointment on your face they may have felt guilty because let’s be honest, when you’re drinking champagne on the beach living the dream you want those you love to be there with you. It’s no fun doing it on your own which is why we encourage our clients to share – pay it forward, if you like.

Let people make the choice for themselves. They may be interested, they may not but if you don’t give them the opportunity to take a look at it for themselves then you may regret it in times to come.
